    Overview

    This Supplier Quality Engineer role etablishes quality requirements to ensure that suppliers conform to procurement requirements, code and industry standards.

     

    The SQE tracks data, identifies improvement projects, and manages cross functional implementation to improve performance of key components and suppliers.

    This position requires leadership skills that would enable the SQE to drive major Quality improvement projects across functions (Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, Sourcing, Materials…) and external entities.

    Responsibilities

    • Using the Statistical Process Control (SPC), Advanced Quality Process (AQP) tools and the Metrics, proactively identify and help implement improvement to the Supplier Quality and Supplier Quality Tools and Processes
    • Promote the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and continuous improvement techniques at Suppliers to help them reduce variability and achieve process control
    • Train Suppliers to effectively execute Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and Corrective Actions Preventive Actions (CAPA)
    • Initiate and follow-up Supplier Corrective Actions (SCAR) in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure complete and effective root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
    • Responsible for driving the Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) process for all Suppliers
    • Perform periodic audits of Supplier Quality Systems for the purpose of assuring continued Supplier conformance to the quality system requirements.
    • Drive new supplier qualification, audit and surveys.
    • Understanding NIAC guidelines and requirements is ideal
    • Improve individual supplier performance to eventually move them to a non-inspection program
    • Support customer and various code and program audits
    • Perform internal audits within the organization to maintain relevant certifications
    • Review and evaluate supplier deviation requests and coordinate Engineering disposition and work/repair instructions when required.
    • Must be able to analyze company quality assurance programs and suggest possible improvements.
    • When required, should be able to initiate negotiations for supplier back-charges when additional costs are incurred by IMI CCI
    • Serve as a point person to identify, monitor, disposition and resolve all material rejections (internal and external) in a timely manner
    • Communicate with vendors regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships

    Qualifications

    • Four (4) year BS Engineering Degree (prefer major in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering)
    • Five (5+) Years experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Minimum of 4 years Quality Engineering Experience
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Position will require some travel (20-30%, possibly international)
    • Proven experience in root cause and corrective action methodologies (Fishbone, 5 Why’s, 3 C’s, 8D, etc)
    • Excellent in-house and external communication and liaison skills
    • Multi-lingual is a plus
